History of Juventus

Juventus was first established on November 1st, 1897 by the students of Massimo D’Azeglio Lyceum in the corner of Corso Re Umberto and Corso Vittorio Emmanuele, Turin, Piedmonte, Italy. The word “Juventus” was taken from Latin idiom “Dio Juventa”, that means “help of God”. Juventus also means “young” because it was established by the young people. Before 1903 the name of this soccer club was Juventine. After that it changed the name to Juventus. The color of jersey was pink before 1903. It represented the spirit of youngster. After changed its name to Juventus, the color of jersey also changed into black and white. Therefore, the people called it zebra team or Bianconerri.
The first president of Juventus is Enrico Canfari. From July 24th, 1123, Juventus was belonged to Agnelli family until now. Since Juventus is the oldest soccer club in Italy, it is called as La Vecchia Signora or The Old Lady.
